Celtic playmaker Armstrong has been reportedly interesting Premier League clubs.
BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton believes Celtic should offload playmaker Stuart Armstrong this summer if a bid for the midfielder is tabled, after he failed to pledge his long-term allegiance to the Hoops last season.
The 26-year-old signed a new two-year deal with Celtic last summer, meaning he has just one more season left to run on his current contract. But the Hoops may look to sell in this window, in order to avoid losing him on a free.
The Daily Record claimed in their live transfer blog (Tuesday, 08:00) that Celtic would be willing to sell the former Dundee United star for a fee of £6million this summer.
Sutton reacted to the news, Tweeting that Armstrong’s decision to avoid signing long-term with Celtic should convince Brendan Rodgers to sell the left-footed star this summer.
It is reported that Southampton are keen on Scotland international Armstrong, who failed to replicate his emphatic 2016-17 campaign this time around. Indeed, he missed a chunk of games at Christmas due to a hernia problem which required surgery.
This season, Armstrong managed just five goals and six assists in 41 league and cup outings, whereas last campaign the versatile midfielder scored 17 times and created another seven.
