Chris Sutton has backed the Celtic striker, Odsonne Edouard, against another former Bhoys goalscorer.

In an interview with the printed edition of The Daily Express, Charlie Nicholas declared Edouard the top striker in Scotland – ahead of his Rangers counterpart, Alfredo Morelos.

But Nicholas also criticised the Frenchman, over his ‘slightly annoying habit of looking too casual and uninterested a lot of the time’, suggesting he ‘can’t be too fussed in the so-called lesser games’.

His biggest gripe, though, is somewhat bizarrely Edouard’s lack of a goal celebration, adding: ‘It should be the greatest feeling in the world but Odsonne doesn’t show that.”

Edouard appeared to take exception to Nicholas’s comments, tweeting earlier:

And Sutton seems to be in agreement with the 21-year-old, posting the following message shortly afterwards:

No play has scored more goals in Scotland’s top flight than Edouard this season, although his Celtic teammate Ryan Christie and Rangers’ Jermain Defoe also have five.

Edouard cost Celtic around £9 million from Paris Saint-Germain in July 2018 and already has interest from a number of other top European clubs, according to reports of late.
