Celtic beat FK Sarajevo 3-1 in the Champions League this evening.

Celtic avoided a shock in Bosnia and Herzegovina this evening, coming from behind to beat FK Sarajevo 3-1 in their Champions League qualifying tie.

The Bhoys have been out in Austria and Switzerland building up towards tonight’s game, with Neil Lennon hoping to guide Celtic through a gruelling qualifying path to the group stage of the Champions League.

Celtic’s defence looked strange on paper when the teams were announced, and they fell behind as Mirko Oremus put the hosts ahead after Jozo Simunovic had given away a cheap corner kick.

Celtic needed to fight back to avoid a shock, and did so as Mikey Johnston quickly brought Celtic level, ensuring that the teams went into half time drawing.

Odsonne Edouard then put Celtic ahead before Scott Sinclair added a third late on, giving Celtic an extra cushion ahead of the second leg at Parkhead.

In what could have been a difficult night, Celtic showed the resolve to come back and clinch the win, with Bhoys heroes Chris Sutton and John Hartson have taken to Twitter to react.

Sutton praised Celtic for being ‘very composed’ and ‘mature’, believing that it was hugely important for new permanent boss Neil Lennon to get off to a winning start in his first full season back as Celtic boss.

Hartson added that it was a ‘fantastic’ result having come from a goal down, believing that the second leg will be much more comfortable having secured that two-goal advantage.
