Everton are interested in signing two very good players, according to reports.

If rumours are to be believed, Everton are already sourcing summer transfer targets – and why not?

The Toffees, who spent in excess of £150 million last summer, have endured a dismal season in the Premier League and the quicker they can right the wrongs of 2017, the better.

Two names linked to Everton over the weekend have been Chris Smalling and Moussa Marega – and signing both this summer could transform the Goodison Park side next season.

According to The Mirror, Everton are keen on the Manchester United centre-back, while the agent of Porto hitman Marega told A Bola this weekend that the Merseyside outfit are indeed keen on his client.

Marega has managed 20 goals in 22 games this season. He and Smalling would be simply massive additions in defence and attack next season, and signing both could go a long way to rectifying the mistakes of last summer.

Cenk Tosun, a £27 million signing in January, is now starting to find a bit of form and the prospect of him and the 26-year-old leading the line for Everton next term is very exciting indeed, while Smalling, a two-time Premier League champion, would surely improve things at the other end.

Everton will likely finish mid-table this season, but getting both of those deals done would be a big step toward where they want to finish next season: the top four.
