Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford eased the pressure off his shoulders by starting off his season with a goal against Bristol City.

Chris Powell has claimed that Marcelo Bielsa is Leeds United’s ‘biggest signing’ of the summer after he decided to stay on at the club.
Following Leeds’ play-off semi-final heartache against Derby County, Bielsa lifted the mood around Elland Road by extending his stay at the club [The Guardian].
Over the weekend, Leeds started their season by brushing past Bristol City at Ashton Gate, with Pablo Hernandez, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison getting on the scoresheet.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (05/08/2019 at 7:10 pm), Powell stated that Bielsa staying was crucial, as he also lauded the qualities of Hernandez and stated that it was important that Bamford got off the mark very early.
“They were excellent,” Powell told Sky Sports Football. “I watched the game and I thought they really impressed themselves on Bristol City, who are normally a good side at home. But Leeds were in total control even with the loss of one or two key players.

“Bamford got himself going. Definitely [it’s crucial that Bamford did get on the scoresheet given the pressure]. It does look like they are going to lose Roofe, Harrison has signed on again. Hernandez I felt was instrumental throughout the 90 minutes. But Leeds have got to carry that tag again as overwhelming favourites.
“Can they do it again? They’ve kept Bielsa which I think is the biggest signing for them.”
There will be huge pressures on Bamford’s shoulders ahead of the new campaign and that will only be eased by him scoring in their win against Lee Johnson’s side.
If Roofe, who is seemingly on the verge of leaving the Championship to join up with Belgium top-tier side Anderlecht [BBC Sport], then it’ll make Bamford even more important to Leeds hopes of earning promotion.
