Wolves have been linked with a move for Derby County striker Chris Martin,
The Sun on Sunday (3/12 p65) report Wolves are keen to add the striker, with Ben Marshall potentially going in the opposite direction.
Martin has struggled for goals this season but manager Nuno Santo is keen on adding Championship experience to help the club down the stretch, and avoid losing the momentum which has made them runaway favourites for promotion.
Signing for Wolves could be positive for Martin for a brief period, but if he believes he could have a long-term future at the club he would be kidding himself.
Even this season, Martin would only be a bit part player at Molineux.
Next season in the Premier League, the Scotland international would not stand a chance of first team football.
Wolves will invest strongly in the summer, and Martin would simply be chewed up and spat out by the club’s ruthless ambition.
Chris Martin will likely this year be looking for a new club if he signs with Wolves now.
He may decide it is worth the gamble, and he wants to enjoy contributing to a promotion season and collect a medal along the way if Wolves finish top.
But long term the move could backfire, and Martin should consider rejecting the opportunity if it comes his way.
