Sunderland are still waiting for Aiden McGeady to make a first start of the season.

Sunderland forward Chris Maguire has told the Sunderland Echo that it’s great to see winger Aiden McGeady return – but admitted he’s still some way off full fitness.
The Black Cats tasted defeat in League One for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-1 away at fellow relegated side Burton Albion.
Sunderland remain in a strong position in the League One table, sitting fourth under Jack Ross, and they were handed a major boost in that defeat to Burton.
Winger McGeady came on as a 51st minute substitute, making his first appearance of the season, and his cameo left Sunderland fans impressed.
The Irishman, 32, was a key signing for Simon Grayson last summer after thriving under him at Preston North End, and his record last season was impressive, notching seven goals and five assists.
This summer, McGeady has been ruled out with a calf injury, but his comeback now gives Sunderland arguably the best winger in League One and a major weapon in their bid for ptomoion.

Now, Sunderland forward Maguire has told the Sunderland Echo that it’s ‘great’ to have McGeady back in an exciting boost, but did offer a word of caution by suggesting that the wide man is still some way off full fitness, almost telling fans to curb their expectations for a little while.
“It’s great to have him back and it’ll only help the squad and the hunger,” said Maguire. “He’s still a bit away fitness-wise but it’s good to get him back on the pitch and hopefully he can kick on now,” he added.
