The Bristol Rovers manager has had the Saints player on loan but his comments suggest that a move is unlikely to happen.

Southampton striker Ryan Seager is currently on trial with League One side Bristol Rovers.
The 22-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Dutch side Telstar but left in search of regular game time at the beginning of this month.
Seager took part in the Gas development side’s 3-2 victory over Forest Green Rovers and did his chances of securing a move no harm with an impressive display.
The striker got himself on the scoresheet, turning home Tom Nichols’ cross with a well-timed volley into the top corner of the net in the first half of the encounter.
However, Rovers manager Chris Hargreaves said that the club could not promise Seager a deal, given they want to prioritise the players currently on their books.
“He’s just spending some time with us at the moment and that’s it,” he told the Bristol Post.

“It’s part looking at options of players who might be out of form or might want to get game time at another club, but, again, we don’t want people to leave, so our players come first.”
Rovers currently have four strikers on their books at the minute and, judging by Hargreaves’ comments, Seager appears unlikely to seal a deal unless he can prove himself ahead of them.
Seager came through the ranks at St Mary’s and has scored 29 goals, as well as registering six assists, in 61 games, according to Transfermarkt.
