Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies has told The Scottish Sun that the club will make a decision on the future of Ryan Christie in the summer of 2018.

Christie has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Inverness Caledonian Thistle when Ronny Deila was the Glasgow giants’ manager.

The 22-year-old midfielder has failed to make an impact at Celtic and has been able to make only 13 appearances for the first team, scoring two goals in the process.

The Scotland international spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Aberdeen and returned to the Scottish Premiership club on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2017.

Celtic assistant manager Davies has suggested that the Hoops will make a decision on the future of Christie once he is back from his loan spell at the Dons.

Davies told The Scottish Sun about Christie: “We know his qualities. He can come back for pre-season and we can take it from there. Ultimately Ryan is our player and we will see how that progresses.”

Celtic are doing well without Christie at the moment, and it is hard to see the Scotsman establish himself in Brendan Rodgers’s first team when he is back at Celtic Park from Aberdeen in the summer of 2018.
