Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies has told the club’s official website that they are in a good place ahead of the clash with Barcelona.

The Scottish champions travel to the Nou Camp on Tuesday for the first game of their Champions League campaign.

Not much is expected from them in the game, with most predicting a comfortable Barcelona victory.

However Celtic head to Spain full of confidence after their comprehensive 5-1 defeat of Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Saturday.

The La Liga champions will be a major step up from Mark Warburton’s side but Davies says that everyone at the club is looking forward to the game regardless of that.

“We’re in a good place,” he told the club’s official website.

“We had a fantastic victory at the weekend which we thoroughly deserved. Everyone’s happy, everyone’s looking forward to this and we’ve worked hard for this game now on Tuesday and we’re all looking forward to it.”

What will also fill Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers side with confidence is Alaves’ win at the Nou Camp on Saturday.

The La Liga minnows were expected to be comfortably beaten by Luis Enrique’s side but instead left Barcelona with the most unlikely of 2-1 victories.

That result showed that this Barcelona side is not completely unbeatable – although there were plenty of changes in personnel – and should give Celtic added confidence they can get their own surprise result.
