Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies worked with LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.
Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he does not know what Steven Gerrard’s plans are regarding his future.
Liverpool legend Gerrard is on the books of Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy at the moment and has a contract until December 2016, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
According to a recent report in The Scottish Sun, newly-appointed Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign the former England international midfielder.
Rodgers worked with Gerrard at Liverpool and so did Davies, but the Celtic assistant manager has remained coy on the possibility of the legendary Englishman moving to Celtic.
Davies, though, has revealed that he still keeps in touch with Gerrard, who is one of the greatest players in Liverpool history.
“I’d a great relationship with Stevie,” Davies told The Glasgow Evening Times. “I’m still in touch with him.”
“I think he’s finishing up later in the year,” added Davies. ”I don’t know what his plans are when he gets back. He’s going to be a really good manager one day.”
Gerrard is past his prime, but the 36-year-old should still be able to do a good job for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Moreover, since the Englishman’s current contract with LA Galaxy runs out in December of this year, the Glasgow giants would not have to pay any transfer fee in order to secure his services in the January transfer window.
