Sunderland are said to be looking to sign Middlesbrough’s Adam Clayton and Adam Forshaw.

Sunderland are currently desperately short in midfield, and Coleman bemoaned his lack of options this week.
The Welsh boss admitted that he was forced to risk Darron Gibson, as he had no other players to turn to, and that caused the Republic of Ireland international to injure his groin.

With Forshaw and Clayton around, Sunderland’s midfield options would suddenly look much more healthy though.
Forshaw and Clayton may have struggled for game time at Middlesbrough this term, but they have previously proven to be excellent players at Championship level.

The pair helped Middlesbrough earn promotion to the Premier League two years ago, and adding their quality would be quite a coup for Sunderland.
The Black Cats are locked in a relegation battle, but Forshaw and Clayton are players of genuine quality.
And if Coleman can pull off the double-deal, then Sunderland’s survival chances will be hugely boosted.
