Sunderland’s Jake Clarke-Salter was sent off in their defeat against Preston North End.

Clarke-Salter was shown two yellow cards, during Sunderland’s damaging 2-0 defeat to Preston.
It is the centre-back’s second red card since joining the Black Cats in January.
And Coleman had spotted the warning signs that the Chelsea loanee was about to be given his marching orders, before he was sent off.

The Welsh boss said: “We were trying to get Jake Clarke-Salter off the pitch and then he got sent off.
“We were already 1-0 down and psychologically it is a massive blow, it’s huge when you then go down to ten men.
“Six times since I’ve been here we’ve had men sent off. Maybe that’s a team that’s struggling and stretched, always pushed to the limit, I don’t know.”

Sunderland were 1-0 down at the point of Clarke-Salter’s dismissal, and it killed their chances of making a comeback.
Sunderland got worse after they were reduced to 10 men, and ended up conceding again.
The Black Cats’ position in the Championship is now looking perilous, and they are in danger of being cut adrift.
Sunderland are currently stuck at the bottom of the Championship, and have five points between them and safety.
