Sunderland could only manage to pick up a 1-1 draw against Norwich City yesterday.

Chris Coleman, manager of Sunderland looks on ahead of the Sky Bet Championship match between QPR and Sunderland at Loftus Road on March 10, 2018 in London, England.

Chris Coleman has told the Chronicle that he planned on taking Sunderland striker Ashley Fletcher off against Norwich City, but was unable to.

Fletcher had picked up a knock in the contest, but just as the striker was about to be removed, Lynden Gooch also got injured.

Sunderland then had to re-think their plans, with Gooch having to come off to be replaced by Kazenga LuaLua in the last minutes.

And Coleman said: “We were going to bring Fletch [Ashley Fletcher] off because he was carrying a knock, but Goochy got whacked so we brought him off.

“He got a kick, but that should settle down hopefully.”

LuaLua unfortunately did not have long enough on the pitch to influence the game, as Sunderland could only pick up a draw against Norwich.

The Black Cats looked to be on their way to a vital three points, but an 89th minute leveller from Norwich caused great disappointment around the Stadium of Light.

Coleman has now admitted that Sunderland need to win every single one of their remaining fixtures to stand a chance of surviving.

However, injuries are mounting at the Stadium of Light, with a number of players picking up knocks last night.

Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Reading.
