Sunderland’s Jack Rodwell has barely made an impact at the Stadium of Light ever since joining.

Chris Coleman has suggested to the Chronicle that Jack Rodwell not be at Sunderland next season.

Rodwell has frustrated Sunderland, with his failure to terminate his contract at the Stadium of Light.

The midfielder is on a massive wage, yet he has offered barely anything to the Wearsiders this term.

Rodwell has constantly been injured, and has spent most his time playing for the development squad.

Sunderland offered Rodwell the chance to terminate his contract, but he refused, as he continued to be happy sitting on his current salary.

However, Coleman has suggested that Sunderland will finally be rid of Rodwell next season.

“We know there’s one player next season who probably won’t even be playing for us, but that’s his problem and his loss, not ours,” Coleman said of Rodwell.

Rodwell has been with Sunderland since 2014, after moving to Wearside from Manchester City.

Removing Rodwell from the wage bill will be huge for Sunderland, as it should allow them the freedom to bring in some additions of their own in the summer transfer window.
