Sunderland were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in Chris Coleman’s first game in charge.

Sunderland took on Aston Villa in midweek, and were beaten 2-1 at Villa Park.
However, Coleman took some positives from the performance – and the performances of Gooch and Honeyman, in particular, caught his eye.
“I think Goochy is more of a No.10 but we didn’t have any more midfielders left,” Coleman said.
“Goochy played in a different type of position but ran his socks off, him and Honeyman, both brilliant.”

Gooch and Honeyman are both still emerging talents at Sunderland, but could feature more regularly under Coleman, after impressing.
Sunderland are short of options in midfield, and if the pair can continue their good form, that will be a major boost for the Black Cats’ new boss.

Coleman has a very difficult job on his hands, with Sunderland’s confidence low and the team sitting at the bottom of the Championship table.
Sunderland have won just once all season, with their struggles for victories becoming hugely concerning.
The Black Cats are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
