Sunderland striker Ashley Fletcher has still not scored since signing on loan from Middlesbrough.

Chris Coleman has told the Chronicle that Ashley Fletcher is lacking confidence at the moment.

Fletcher has joined Sunderland on loan from Middlesbrough, but has made a slow start to life at the Stadium of Light.

The forward is still yet to score a goal for the Black Cats, and he was guilty of missing a big chance last night.

Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Bolton Wanderers, in what was yet another blow for their survival chances.

And Coleman feels that his striker’s lack of confidence is becoming a concern.

“I was disappointed at the lack of cutting edge. We are snatching at things,” Coleman said.

“Fletch [Ashley Fletcher] got into a great position one-v-one but his touch let him down, that’s a lack of confidence.”

Sunderland fans may not be helping Fletcher, given how low on confidence he is.

The striker has taken a hammering on social media, and is under serious pressure to start finding the back of the net.

Sunderland fans may argue that any criticism their players have got this season has been deserved, as their campaign has been so disastrous.

And the only way for Fletcher to get the supporters off his back, will be to get his name on the scoresheet in the near future.
