Sunderland look destined to drop into League One next season.

Finding buyers for Lamine Kone and Lee Cattermole in the summer has just become even more important for Sunderland.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Kone and Cattermole will not see their wages reduced at all, if Sunderland drop into League One.

Kone and Cattermole are already on sizeable contracts at the Stadium of Light, and affording them both in League One could be crippling.

Sunderland now badly need to offload the pair, to make sure that they can bring in some much needed additions in the transfer window.

The problem for Sunderland is that finding buyers for their players is likely to be a difficult task.

Kone and Cattermole have both previously shown their quality, but in recent times the duo have been two of the biggest under-performers in the Black Cats’ squad.

Kone and Cattermole have not been able to save Sunderland from relegation, and Chris Coleman’s side are now looking doomed.

Sunderland are currently sat in 23rd spot in the Championship table, with just four games remaining this season.
