Welsh club still have national boss on their radar.
Swansea City have Wales boss Chris Coleman on their wanted list if and when they decide to replace current boss Francesco Guidolin, HITC Sport understands.
HITC Sport understands that Coleman was the man the Swans wanted last year, when it looked like Guidolin would step down following illness – but he returned and guided them to safety.
However, following a poor start to the new season the pressure is now on the veteran Italian, and Swansea’s new American owners are understood to be far from happy and Huw Jenkins is looking at potential options.
Swansea often consider candidates from around the world, and HITC Sport understands they will do so again, but the odds are now on a Welsh boss taking the helm at the Liberty Stadium, with Coleman and former Manchester United assistant boss Ryan Giggs the two preferred candidates.
The Football Association of Wales successfully fended off Hull City’s approach for Coleman in the summer, but that was partly due to the fact he was not convinced by the project at the KCOM Stadium; however that is different with Swansea.
But HITC Sport understands that the FAW have a succession plan in mind with former Welsh star Craig Bellamy at the centre of their thinking. They hope Bellamy – who has been fast tracked through the Welsh system to do his coaching badges – will be central to their new management team and he could be boss, although he could also work with somebody else.
The FAW are also looking at Giggs, should Coleman be the man Swansea turn to, and could approach him to work with Bellamy.
