Sunderland are attempting to get a loan deal done with Liverpool for youngster Ben Woodburn.

Wales' manager Chris Coleman follows the game from the touchline during the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification football match between Georgia and Wales in Tbilisi on October 6, 2017.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is expecting Ben Woodburn to be brought in over the coming days.

Sunderland have made Liverpool forward Woodburn one of their top targets, as they look to improve their attacking options.

Sunderland are limited with what they can do this month, as they do not have much money to invest.

However, the Black Cats are confident of tying up a loan deal for Woodburn with Liverpool.

Woodburn is regarded as one of the Reds’ top prospects, but has little chance to breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s side at the present moment.

At Sunderland, however, he could become a key player and he is well known by Coleman.

If Woodburn does move to Sunderland he will be competition with the likes of James Vaughan, Lewis Grabban, Josh Maja and Joel Asoro for a first-team place.
