Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has hinted to the Northern Echo that both Paddy McNair and Lamine Kone could come back into his starting line-up.

McNair and Kone have been out with injury for a considerable amount of time, but are stepping up their comebacks now.

McNair has played for Sunderland’s development side, and Kone could also feature tomorrow evening against Bolton Wanderers.

And Coleman believes that the height and power of the pair could seriously aid his team.

“If you look at the Championship, and what makes up most of the teams in this division, it’s a very physical league,” Coleman said.

“They’re two big boys, and when they’re physically and mentally ready, I definitely think they’ll add to us. They’ll strengthen us, for sure.

“Sometimes you look at us, and we probably look a bit short and small compared to the opposition, so if you put a McNair or a Kone in there, it helps. They’re big, physical boys, and that definitely helps.”

Coleman will need all of the power available to him at Sunderland against Bolton, as Phil Parkinson’s side are very direct in their style of play.

Bolton like to hit the ball into channels and get plenty of crosses into the box, so Sunderland will need to be up for the aerial battle.

Sunderland are under serious pressure to pick up a victory at the Macron Stadium, as Coleman’s side’s poor form has continued.

Sunderland lost 2-0 to Brentford in their last match, which leaves them in 23rd place in the Championship table.
