Sunderland striker Lewis Grabban has been recalled by Bournemouth ahead of schedule.
Chris Coleman has told the Chronicle that Sunderland are working on signing a striker.
Sunderland’s chances of staying in the Championship have been dented by the loss of their top scorer, Lewis Grabban.
The Black Cats have relied on Grabban to score the bulk of their goals this season, but his good form has seen interest rise.
The Bournemouth striker has now been recalled, with the Cherries looking to cash in on the front man.
And Coleman now claims that Sunderland are working on more than one deal to help to replace Grabban.
“Once we found out that (Grabban’s) clause could be exercised, we’ve been working on a replacement or replacements,” the Welsh boss said.
“Now it’s actually happened, there’s a red light flashing, so that’s something we’ve got to do.”
Grabban has scored 12 goals for Sunderland this term, but no other Black Cats player has scored more than five goals.
A deal Sunderland are known to be working on is a loan move for Liverpool striker Ben Woodburn, but that move has been delayed due to Philippe Coutinho’s switch to Barcelona.
Sunderland were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough in their last outing, as they crashed out of the FA Cup.
