Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is set to join Sunderland.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has told The Northern Echo that a deal for Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan hasn’t quite been completed just yet.
The Black Cats suffered a thumping defeat on Tuesday night, losing 3-1 away at relegation rivals Birmingham City to drop back into the Championship bottom three.
Relegation to League One is a very real possibility, and manager Coleman desperately wants new faces on deadline day to prevent a second successive relegation.

Sunderland have so far managed to bring in just two new signings during this month’s transfer window, as they have brought in Jake Clarke-Salter and Kazenga Lua-Lua.
A deal for Liverpool’s Evie Ejaria appears to be close, but Sunderland need much more on deadline day – and Coleman is prioritising a new goalkeeper.
Predecessor Simon Grayson did land Robbin Ruiter and Jason Steele over the summer, but neither have impressed, leading Coleman to target a deal for Leeds United’s Andy Lonergan.

Lonergan, 34, re-joined Leeds from Wolverhampton Wanderers over the summer, but with just seven league starts this season, he looks set to move on to Sunderland.
Now, Coleman has told The Northern Echo that a deal is very close for Lonergan, and he hopes to get it over the line on deadline day.
“That’s not quite there yet,” said Coleman. “There’s a little way still to go, and it’s not over the line. We’ve still got one or two things to do there, but that said, hopefully that will go through in the next 24 hours,” he added.
