Chris Coleman wants the on-loan striker to stay at Sunderland till the end of the season.
Sunderland striker, Lewis Grabban, on loan from AFC Bournemouth, has been one of the key players for the Black Cats this season.
The 29-year-old joined Sunderland on a season-long, but he has a release clause in that contract.
He has scored 10 goals in 16 games since joining the Black Cats in July, and manager Chris Coleman wants him to stay at the club beyond the January transfer window.
Coleman has revealed that Grabban is a “very important” player for the side, and that Bournemouth could take him back in January.
“They could take him back. But he is very important to us. I hope he will stay for rest of the season,” said Coleman, as quoted by the Mirror (printed edition; 01/12/2017 – page 62).
The Premier League club could be planning to sell him to another club whilst his stock is high.
Coleman said that he can hope that the player will stay till the end of the season. Grabban has become a somewhat talisman figure for the club, and the Black Cats may struggle to cope in his absence.
He is scoring goals and is in good form at the moment, and Coleman needs his services more than ever. Sunderland are 22nd in the league with 14 points on board.
