Hoffenheim right-back Jeremy Toljan is being linked with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Both clubs would almost certainly appeal to Toljan, with Liverpool one of the world’s most storied names and Tottenham arguably the Premier League’s most refreshing team to watch in recent years – and one which is set up for a bright future on and off the pitch.
Like Toljan, Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, is a German – as are some of Liverpool’s players, Emre Can, Loris Karius and, essentially, Joel Matip, who is Bochum born but has international caps for Cameroon.

And while Tottenham’s manager may not be, nor is his CV as decorated (yet) as that of his Anfield counterpart, Mauricio Pochettino’s record of playing and persevering with young talent is almost unrivalled in England’s top flight at present.
It remains to be seen whether either club will pursue their interest in the player whom it is claimed would cost around £7 million (The Mirror). Given the choice of the two, however, Toljan need not hesitate. Tottenham are the club for him – the reason being that they are the ones who need him the most.
Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne appeared in at least four more league games and played at least 620 more league minutes than either of Tottenham’s right-backs last season – one of whom, Kyle Walker, is now a Manchester City player.
And while Kieran Trippier may have established himself as first choice in the closing weeks of the campaign, his place in the team is much less set in stone than Clyne’s is at Liverpool.

Consider, too, that Liverpool’s next-in-line, Trent Alexander-Arnold, is far more exposed to life in the first team than Tottenham’s Kyle Walker-Peters, who is two years the 18-year-old’s senior, and it should be a no-brainer for Toljan – if, of course, a choice presents itself.
