Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Arsenal’s youngsters are so good they might just be ‘competing at the top of the league’ in years to come, as the Tottenham legend told Premier League Productions.

The TV pundit praised how well Arsenal have been playing, especially with their young stars this season.

Emile Smith Rowe, Martin Odgaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have just been some of the players that have been shining bright for Mikel Arteta.

At this moment in time, they are craving a return to the Champions League – and it is in their hands because they are one point clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, with three games in hand.

But, down the line, when these young guns start moving up a few levels, Hoddle thinks they can go places.

“Arsenal have been playing well,” said Hoddle.

“They have got some very good youngsters coming though, who in the years to come, it chokes me to say it, but they may well be competing at the top of the league.”

It’s small steps for this Arsenal side because they are yet to get over that Champions League line.

In terms of Arsenal as a club and its stature, it’s an underachievement that they aren’t in the Champions League every season.

But, if you compare their squad to the rest of the Premier League, then many would argue both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea should be finishing above them.

Therefore, securing that fourth spot would be an overachievement by Arteta for this season.
