Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday has admitted to The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic have been fantastic so far this season.

Celtic are going strong in the Scottish Premiership at the moment and are firm favourites to win the title.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are currently at the top of the league table with 34 points from 12 matches.

The Bhoys are 10 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and have a game in hand.

Rangers, who won automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of last season, are a point behind Aberdeen in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Halliday, who is 25 years of age, has admitted that Celtic have been fantastic this campaign, but he has made it clear that Rangers are not going to give up on winning the league title.

“I said the same at the start of the season and I’ll say the same again,” Halliday told The Glasgow Evening Times. “No disrespect to Celtic, but we can’t settle for second.

“Don’t get me wrong, Celtic have been fantastic this season, their best start to a campaign since 2004. They’ve been brilliant and are deservedly at the top of the table.

“We’ve got to try and chip away at the lead, get as many wins as we can and with it a bit of momentum and hopefully claw it back. But Celtic have been fantastic this season so far with their results.

“We’re certainly going to try because we’ve not done enough ourselves to be in a title race. We’ve dropped far too many points so we need to get momentum back and keep picking up three points and hopefully chip away at Celtic’s lead.”

Celtic have the strongest team in the Scottish Premiership, and it is not a surprise that the Bhoys are so far ahead of the rest in the league table at the moment.

It is hard to see Mark Warburton’s Rangers win the title this season, but a second-place finish is certainly feasible for the Gers.
