Will Leeds United be the next club to benefit from Chinese investment?
Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is close to selling the club to Andrea Radrizzani, report Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Radrizzani has been linked with Leeds since August, via a BBC report, and it is his close links with Chinese investors which make the Leeds links particularly exciting.
He helped recently as a front man with the takeover of Inter Milan, acting as an intermediary for the rich Suning group to take over the Italian giants, but his business links go further than that.
Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino… on his way out?
Radrizzani is the president of media distribution rights firm MP & Silva, who manage the distribution of Serie A television rights among their portfolio, as well as NFL rights in Europe.
Earlier this year MP & Silva were subject of a takeover by Chinese companies China Everbright and Beijing Baofeng Technology, valued in excess of £1 billion, the Financial Times reported.
Bloomberg reported the Chinese firms have a majority stake in MP & Silva, with the company co-founded by Radrizzani.
He remains very much involved since the takeover, and with clear financial muscle behind him, Leeds United fans should be particularly excited about news Radrizzani is close to taking the reins at Elland Road.
