Tottenham Hotspur reportedly chased the winger during the January transfer window earlier this year.
According to a report from Spanish media outlet AS, Barcelona are already prepared to cash in on Malcom, and that should surely make Mauricio Pochettino’s ears perk up at Tottenham.
The Brazilian joined Barca from Bordeaux in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £36.5 million, but he has desperately failed to establish himself at the Camp Nou.
It could be argued that he hasn’t actually been given a chance, however, with Ernesto Valverde giving the 21-year-old just one La Liga start.
Spanish publication AS claim that the Spanish giants are already prepared to give up on Malcom, and have received a blockbuster £58 million bid from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande for his signature.
Tottenham are alleged to have been interested in signing Malcom last year, and even made a £31 million offer for the winger when he was at Bordeaux, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs ended up signing Lucas Moura instead, but that isn’t to say that the Lilywhites could not do with more strength in depth in the attacking department.
Malcom’s form at Barcelona would mean that Tottenham signing him would represent a risk, but he could still turn out to be a wonderful addition for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
There is definitely an excellent player in there somewhere, and much will depend on whether Poch is prepared to take gamble on the Brazilian fulfilling his undoubted potential.
