Leeds United will reportedly miss out on Mauricio Isla, who seems set to join Flamengo.
Interest from Leeds United
In July, TyC Sports claimed of interest in Isla from Leeds, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship.
The report claimed that the West Yorkshire outfit had made an offer to the 32-year-old, who is a free agent at the moment after leaving Turkish club Fenerbahce.
However, it seems that the Chile international – who can operate as a right-back or as a midfielder – is on his way to Flamengo.
Flamengo move
According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, Isla has chosen Flamengo despite having offers from Real Betis, Valencia and Boca Juniors.
The report has claimed that the transfer will be finalised on Monday in Valencia where the player is on vacation.
Isla will undergo his medical before flying to Rio de Janeiro to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract, according to the report.
Missing out
The Chilean is a very good player who starred at Udinese, and given his vast experience, he would have been a smart signing for Leeds.
Isla would have given Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa a valuable option, and would have been a low-cost signing as well as he is a free agent.
