There was more international heartbreak for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the Reds’ attacker will not be at the World Cup in Qatar this year.

The Egypt international lost to Sadio Mane’s Senegal last night.

This was the same team that beat Salah and co to the Africa Cup of Nations in January – and the manner of the heartbreak was the same for the 29-year-old.

On both occasions, the Liverpool star lost in a penalty shootout.

But on this occasion, Salah actually missed from 12 yards.

However, the miss was surrounded in controversy after the former Chelsea and Roma winger looked to have lasers shone on his face from the Senegal supporters.

Here’s how Don Hutchison reacted on Twitter. He wrote: “F*g fans bringing lasers into football grounds, Childish”, accompanied by an angry face emoji.

It’s a massive shame that Salah won’t be at the World Cup later this year.

Despite finishing seventh in the Ballon d’Or stakes, Salah is probably one of the top five players in world football and it’s genuinely disappointing that we see won’t see him on a stage like that – and all because he was targeted by lasers.

Well, the Liverpool attacker might’ve missed his penalty regardless, but he’s usually ice cold from 12 yards and to miss – and miss by blazing over the bar – is out of character to say the least.
