Leeds United have been linked with the Chievo-owner player and the Italian side have just signed a new striker of their own.

As confirmed on Empoli’s official website, they have sent striker Manuel Pucciarelli to Chievo on a two-year loan deal, and Leeds United fans may be interested in the news as they gear up for the potential arrival of Caleb Ekuban.

The 23-year-old is expected to sign for the Whites this week, with the Yorkshire Evening Post claiming a deal should be concluded in the next 48 hours, and there appears to be even more substance to the claims now that Ekuban’s current club Chievo have signed a new forward of their own.

The Leeds target spent last season on loan at FK Partizani, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in the process, and as a result it is no surprise Thomas Christiansen’s side see him as a potential solution to last season’s attacking issues.

While Chris Wood was superb up front for Leeds, the rest of the squad fell sort in the goal-scoring stakes. However with Ekuban and Samu Saiz expected to arrive shortly, that problem could be a thing of the past.

Even if Leeds strengthen their forward areas, their summer transfer business will not be done, with a new centre-back and a left-back to replace the departed Charlie Taylor sure to be high on the agenda.

Yet for now it is all about new forwards, and with Chievo making their move, now it is over to Leeds to hopefully announce theirs.
