Juventus forward Federico Chiesa has now set his stance on any potential transfer to Newcastle United or West Ham United amid interest from the Premier League rivals.

That is according to Sport Mediaset, which reports that Newcastle and West Ham are eager to see Chiesa move to England. But they are not the only Premier League teams targeting a move for the 25-year-old. Jurgen Klopp is also urging Liverpool to sign the Juventus winger.

Klopp believes Chiesa can help Liverpool move back up the Premier League table after their disappointing campaign in 2022/23. The Anfield side only ended the season in fifth place to qualify for the Europa League. But Klopp feels Chiesa could return the Reds to the top four.

Newcastle and West Ham rival Liverpool for Chiesa’s transfer

Anfield chiefs have even moved to hold initial talks with the Italy international’s agent, Fali Ramadani. Under Klopp’s request for his transfer, Liverpool guaranteed Ramadani that they can offer Chiesa a superior salary than with Juventus. He currently makes £154k-a-weeek.

Ramadani can force a greater wage from Liverpool, too, with Newcastle and West Ham also targeting Chiesa’s transfer from Juventus. While the Bianconeri will demand €50-60m (£43-51.5m) to grant a deal. The Serie A side signed him from Fiorentina for £42m in May 2022.

Juventus took up their option to buy Chiesa from I Viola after two seasons on loan at a cost of £8.5m. The winger was out injured at the time after requiring surgery to reconstruct the ACL in his left knee in January 2022. Chiesa did not return to match fitness until November.

What is Chiesa’s stance on a move to the Toon or the Irons?

Chiesa ended the 2022/23 season with four goals and six assists from 33 appearances in all competitions. He also hit five of his assists in 21 Serie A games, whilst playing seven Europa League ties. Now, Newcastle and West Ham are keen to rival Liverpool for Chiesa’s transfer.

But Chiesa is not keen on a transfer to Newcastle or West Ham should he leave Juventus in the summer market. The Genova native, who Gianluigi Buffon called ‘really special’ at Euro 2020, does not view moves to St James’ Park or London Stadium in a sizably positive light.

His stance is not set entirely against a potential transfer but Newcastle or West Ham would have to convince Chiesa to leave Juventus. Even though of the trio, plus Liverpool, only the Magpies can offer the right-footed, left-forward Champions League games during 2023/24.
