Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati has reportedly travelled to England to finalise a deal with West Ham to sign Nikola Vlasic, who is currently out on loan with the Serie A side this season.

According to La Stampa, the Torino transfer chief has flown to London to secure the permanent signature of Vlasic, who has been in sensational form this campaign for the Turin-based side since departing West Ham on loan.

The attacking midfielder, who is currently in Qatar with Croatia for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has made 15 appearances in Serie A for Torino, scoring four goals and assisting another two. And the Italian side are now working on signing the 25-year-old for good.

As per the report, Torino already have an option to sign Vlasic for good at the end of this season for €15m (£12m). However, Il Toro are restless that a rival club could swoop in for the former CSKA Moscow star in the summer, hence Vagnati’s trip to England this week.

Indeed, with Vlasic making the World Cup semi-finals with Croatia, there’s every chance that West Ham could increase their demands for the 25-year-old attacking midfielder. However, given how little an impact the Torino loanee has had, this likely won’t happen in talks with Vagnati.

Moreover, with Vlasic flourishing with Torino, there’s every chance that West Ham will green-light a permanent transfer in January given how little a future the Split-born superstar has at the London Stadium beyond this season.

Vlasic’s move to West Ham has been an unimaginable nightmare, with the talented Croatian international failing to adapt to the Premier League and struggling to fit in at the east London side, which is why a January move to Torino would benefit all parties.

After all, Vlasic is thriving in Turin on loan, and with little hope of a future at West Ham beyond this season, it makes sense to complete a deal this January for both the player and the two clubs involved, with the midfielder primed for a big future in Italy.
