Rangers have secured what appears to be their final deal of the January transfer window today, by signing Matt Polster on a free transfer.

Rangers had already brought in Steven Davis, Jermain Defoe and Andy Firth, as well landing pre-contract agreements for Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones.

Steven Gerrard has been busy this month, but he has still found room to bring in one more player in United States international utility man Polster.

The 25-year-old Polster arrived for a trial spell with Rangers last month, and then went on the mini training camp to Tenerife earlier this month.

Polster has now done enough to earn a permanent deal under his hero Gerrard, signing a two-and-a-half year deal to join Rangers.

A right back or holding midfield player, Polster has made almost 100 appearances for Chicago Fire, but now moves on at the end of his contract.

Fire fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the move, admitting that he will be missed in Chicago, bringing him a ‘class player’, whilst wishing him the best of luck in Scotland.
