Chelsea completed the signing of Christian Pulisic yesterday for a staggering £58 million, BBC Sport report.

The fee was a record spent on an American player and Pulisic will arrive at Chelsea with high hopes.

Crucially he will only join next season, which could impact Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur as soon as next month.

Chelsea decided to agree with Dortmund to allow Pulisic to remain at the German side on loan until the end of the season.

Dortmund face Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 of the Champions League and Pulisic will be desperate to make an impact.

There will be no better way for Pulisic to win over his new fans at Chelsea by knocking Spurs out of Europe’s premier club competition.

Pulisic has been displaced in Dortmund’s starting XI by Jadon Sancho at times this season.

Tottenham will not have an easy ride against Dortmund, but it could have been a bit more comfortable if Pulisic had gone to Chelsea immediately.

Now Dortmund have an extra £58 million with which to strengthen ahead of the ties too.
