The Chelsea Chronicle has received some new information regarding the future of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
Chelsea had shown interest in Alvarez during the summer of 2024, before he left Manchester City for Atletico Madrid, where he has settled in well.
So far this season, the 25-year-old has found the net nine times in just 15 games for the Spanish side.
Although Chelsea missed out on signing him back then, a switch to Stamford Bridge down the line hasn’t been ruled out yet.
Julian Alvarez on Chelsea’s radar
Julian Alvarez is weighing up his next move, and Chelsea are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on his situation at Atletico, according to The Chelsea Chronicle.
Our transfer insider Graeme Bailey shared this on the Argentine striker: “Alvarez has quietly emerged as one of the best strikers in Europe. He has been very good for Atletico, outstanding even, but intermediaries are making it clear that he is considering his options.

“Whilst Barca seems the most likely option for him — PSG and Chelsea are very much keeping close tabs on the situation. I am told that clearly Barca and PSG appeal to Alvarez, but don’t rule out a move to London with Chelsea.
“There is also Enzo Maresca. He and Alvarez worked well together during their time together at Manchester City. It’s one to keep an eye on. If Alvarez does become available this summer, I wouldn’t dismiss Chelsea at all.”
Chelsea will be bringing in at least one new striker in 2026, with Emanuel Emegha set to join from Strasbourg.
Emegha scored twice against Lille last weekend, leading some fans to call for him to replace Liam Delap in the lineup.
How Julian Alvarez performed for Atletico Madrid last season
Chelsea, Barcelona, and PSG’s interest in Alvarez isn’t surprising after he scored 29 goals across all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign.
Seven of those goals came in the Champions League, helping Atletico reach the round of 16 before being eliminated by city rivals Real Madrid.
| Julian Alvarez’s 2024/25 stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| La Liga | 37 | 17 | 4 |
| Champions League | 10 | 7 | 1 |
| Copa del Rey | 7 | 5 | 2 |
| Club World Cup | 3 | 0 | 1 |
| Total | 57 | 29 | 8 |
Alvarez’s previous experience in the Premier League adds to his appeal for Chelsea, who already have several Argentines in their squad, including Enzo Fernandez.
However, with Emegha set to join next year, the Blues may need to move one or two forwards before making a serious push for Alvarez.

Maresca has managed well since arriving from Leicester City last summer, but it will be tough to keep all of them content.
