Chelsea’s Mason Mount has claimed in the Telegraph that he can learn from West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

West Ham man Rice and Mount are great friends, after growing up in Chelsea’s youth team together.

Rice was released when he was just 14 by Chelsea, but he has made the Blues regret that decision now.

Rice has gone on to become a key player for West Ham, and has become a fairly established member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Mount, meanwhile, is just making the breakthrough at Chelsea.

Mount has been offered chances by Frank Lampard this season and he has seized his opportunity with a series of impressive performances.

The Chelsea midfielder has now been called into the England squad, where he will play alongside Rice again, and Mount feels that he can learn from the more experienced West Ham ace.

“He has that fight and that desire,” Mount said about Rice.

“To be knocked down and released by what is his club – he has always supported Chelsea from a boy – is tough, and tough to come back from. He has done that and I definitely think I can learn stuff off him. I am always speaking to him.”

Rice is now one of the first names of the team sheet at West Ham, and questionably their best option in defensive midfield.

Mount is still working on cementing his place in Chelsea’s team, but if he continues to perform to such a high level then he surely will over the weeks ahead.
