Everton should consider a move for the Chelsea striker this summer.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman will be lining up a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, after the Belgian’s big money exit to Manchester United, but with just a month before the new Premier League campaign kicks off, it might prove to be a difficult to complete deals for some of the Dutchman’s primary targets.
With this in mind, Everton might just have to consider a stop-gap signing, an established striker with Premier League experience, and someone who they would be able to bring to Goodison Park almost immediately, and who better than Chelsea hitman Loic Remy.
The 30-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.5 million, but has failed to establish himself in west London since then, scoring just 12 goals in 46 appearances for the Blues.
Loic Remy
The Frenchman must surely be looking to leave this summer, in order to nail down more regular first-team football, and Everton could be the perfect place for him.
Remy can play through the middle as an orthodox centre-forward, or out wide on the left, and would be a useful squad member for Koeman, as he looks to negotiate a busy schedule this season, both home and abroad.
The former Newcastle, QPR and Marseille forward has pace in abundance, which enables him to stretch the opposition’s back-line – something that would surely be a major asset to the Toffees’ attacking play.
Remy has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with Chelsea, so Everton would surely not have to spend too heavily if they wanted to bring him to Goodison Park this summer.
