Chelsea haven’t had a bad season so far but there have been a few negative talking points.

It’s difficult to find points in Chelsea’s season when things haven’t gone to plan.

Still in the League Cup, well placed in the Champions League and top of the Premier League, it’s all looking very good for Jose Mourinho’s team looking ahead to the Christmas and New Year schedule.

However, there is some evidence of negative moments so far in Chelsea’s season.

Schalke

Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against FC Schalke in the Champions League caused plenty of annoyance and aggravation among fans at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were poor as they started their Champions League campaign, but they did well to recover after the early setback.

The Wenger Scuffle

Perhaps not Mourinho’s fault but a negative moment all the same, which showcased the less admirable side of Jose Mourinho’s character. Wenger claimed that the Portuguese coach stopped him from advancing to check on an injured player.

Second International Break

The climax of the second international break of the season saw Mourinho engrossed in a ward of words against the Spanish national setup. Mourinho was furious over the way Diego Costa had been handled and blamed Spain for sending him back in an injured state, as Chelsea had been nursing his hamstring problem throughout the season.

Van Persie’s equaliser

Chelsea had played at their tactical best under Mourinho away at Manchester United. United controlled large parts of that game but a Didier Drogba header put the Blues ahead before Robin Van Persie equalised with virtually the last kick of the game, which left Mourinho angry over the discipline of his defence.

Eden Hazard’s Form

Eden Hazard’s form for the club this season has not been up to the standard which he set for himself last time round. Mourinho has found himself often defending the Belgian against criticism of his performances so it will be encouraging for the boss that Hazard’s form seem to gather a little momentum heading into the current international break.
