Chelsea ace wants to emulate goalscoring form of Tottenham and Liverpool stars.

Alvaro Morata #9 of Chelsea FC looks during the International Champions Cup match between Chelsea FC and FC Bayern Munich at National Stadium on July 25, 2017 in Singapore.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata scored twice on Sunday to help the Blues to a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

It was a much needed impact from the Spaniard, who now has five Premier League goals in 11 games.

He has nearly halved last year’s 11 in 31 and after the weekend’s game he admitted he was frustrated not to have bagged a hat-trick.

Chelsea paid £57 million to sign him from Real Madrid in 2017 and last season he did not offer value for money.

This season he is making a recovery, but showing a touch of humility, he says he knows he is not on the same level as proven Premier League stars and wants to join them.

Name-checking Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City forwards, Morata told The Telegraph he aspires to be like them.

He said: “This is the league with the best strikers in the world,” said Morata. “There is Hazard, there is Mane, Firmino, Aguero, Harry Kane.

“I need to work a lot to be like them. For sure, I always want to score because it is good for me. Sometimes people think that I don’t like to score or that I want to miss.

“Now I think I’m having more chances than I did last year. Last year I could only score with headers, but now I can score with different things.”

A notable name who Morata left out was former Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, who is experiencing his own struggles at Manchester United.

Morata was Chelsea’s second choice after they were beaten to Lukaku, but the jury is still out on who got the better deal. This season the Chelsea man is one goal ahead.

If Morata can get himself close to 20 goals this season then Chelsea might just have a chance of silverware and he can restore his reputation.
