Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour says he still follows Rangers

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has said that he still follows Rangers closely, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.

Gilmour was on the books of Rangers from 2009 until 2017, when he moved to Premier League giants Chelsea at the tender age of 16.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been progressing well at the Blues and was in action against Manchester United in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Gilmour has said that he is still in contact with his friends at Rangers, and has said that he hopes that Steven Gerrard’s side win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

The Scottish Sun quotes Gilmour as saying: “I definitely do. I always keep in contact with my friends at Rangers.

“Every opportunity I get when I’m up the road I go and watch them. Hopefully Rangers can do it (win the league) this season.”

One for the future

Gilmour has only started his footballing career, and it could take him a while to establish himself in the Chelsea first team.

The 18-year-old midfielder will get chances for the Blues under manager Frank Lampard this season, and when he gets them, he has to make the most of them.

Chelsea are challenging for a top-four finish in the Premier League table this season.
