Mason Mount has been linked with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, but it seems that Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are determined to stop him from leaving Stamford Bridge.
Back in April, The Sun reported that Manchester City and Newcastle are interested in signing Mount and are planning to make a bid for the Chelsea midfielder in the summer of 2023.
The report in the British tabloid claimed that the Citizens and the Magpies were not going to make their moves in the summer of 2022, but their plan is to bid for him at the end of the 2022-23 campaign if £70,000-a-week (The Sun) star still has not signed a new contract.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has now reported on Twitter that Chelsea have been in talks with Mount over a new deal, and that the England international midfielder is now waiting for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners to send a new and final proposal.
Mount has scored 24 goals and created 31 big chances in 111 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
