TalkSPORT have reported that Newcastle and Palace want to sign Gallagher from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final hours of the January transfer window.
The Magpies have registered an interest in signing the 22-year-old on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
According to the report, ‘Chelsea could be reluctant to strengthen the Magpies’ quest for a Champions League place’ and may not send the England international midfielder on a loan deal to St. James’ Park’.
Although it appears unlikely now, there is still a chance that Chelsea could make a push for the Premier League top four in the coming weeks and months.
Newcastle are in a great position to end up in the UEFA Champions League places in the league table this season.
TalkSPORT have claimed that Palace are keen on bringing Gallagher back to Selhurst Park.
The Chelsea midfielder had a loan spell at the Eagles last season.
And, according to the report, Gallagher is ‘keen on a reunion with Patrick Vieira should Chelsea allow him to leave’.
West Ham United are also claimed to be interested in the Chelsea midfielder.
