Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Edouard Mendy could leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that if Chelsea and Mendy get good offers, then there is a distinct possibility that the goalkeeper will leave.

Romano has added that the two parties are waiting to speak to the new Chelsea head coach.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is widely expected to take charge of Chelsea for next season and beyond.

Summer exit possible

In our view, Edouard Mendy could genuinely leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

There is no smoke without fire.

Yes, Mendy is a good goalkeeper, but he is not the best in the world.

Chelsea could well decide to keep Kepa or sign a younger goalkeeper who could develop into a world-class player in the summer transfer window.

While Mendy has done well for Chelsea, he is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Mendy, who earns £55,000-a-week (Spotrac).

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants the Senegal international at the Allianz Arena.

Tuchel worked with Mendy at Chelsea.

Mendy has made eight starts and one substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea this season.

The 31-year-old also made one appearance in the Carabao Cup and played once in the UEFA Champions League for the London club this campaign.
