Chelsea reportedly already have a plan to loan out Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos despite pushing hard to sign the midfielder in January amid interest from Newcastle United.
According to the Evening Standard, the Blues will be willing to loan out the 18-year-old South American if Santos fails to win a work permit to play in England, with Chelsea currently confident that the Brazilian will be granted a visa to play in England for next season.
However, a plan is already in motion for the youngster to go out on loan if Chelsea fail to get Santos a work permit, a decision that could fill the youngster with dread that he might not ever get a real chance to impress for the west London side in a tale we have seen numerous times at the Blues.
With Newcastle missing out on Santos, there is reason to believe that such a feeling would not have been felt had the Magpies managed to sign the midfielder, with journalist Lucas Pedrosa reporting that the youngster snubbed a move to the northeast in favour of Chelsea.

Indeed, whilst there is a good chance Santos will win a work permit to play for Chelsea, the fear that the youngster will leave the Blues on a temporary transfer could be a worrying one for some supporters in large part due to how much the west London side abuse the loan system.
Whilst new FIFA loan laws could see Santos remain at Stamford Bridge, it could soon come quickly apparent that the midfielder made the wrong decision in signing for Chelsea, with Newcastle a club who have offered the teenager more first-team opportunities.
Santos could fall into the Chelsea loan trap if work permit is declined

Chelsea’s loan army has long-been documented, with the Blues in some seasons having as many as 40 players out for the season, and should Santos follow a similar path, there’s every chance the Brazilian will get lost in the system like so many other players have done.
With Santos making the decision to sign for Chelsea over Newcastle, the teenager could soon regret his decision if the west London side fail to give the midfielder minutes in the senior team as quickly as possible, with the prospect of the youngster becoming another lost cause very real.
