According to 90min, Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, wants to join Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Liverpool-linked Enzo Fernandez wants to join Chelsea

Despite Chelsea and Benfica having cooled their talks in recent weeks, Fernandez ‘remains incredibly keen to join Chelsea’.

The report has added that the Argentina international midfielder’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is still trying to get a deal done.

Chelsea will reportedly make another bid for the Benfica star, who has a release clause of £106 million in his contract.

Blow for Liverpool

This reported stance of Fernandez, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, will come as a blow for Liverpool.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners have also been linked with the 22-year-old.

Romano reported on his YouTube channel that although Liverpool are interested in Fernandez, club owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are not going to pay €120 million (£106 million) in transfer fees for the Benfica midfielder in the January transfer window.

90min reported on December 30, 2022 that Liverpool had held talks with Benfica over Fernandez.

However, it seems that the Argentine star wants to join Chelsea, who are about to make a new bid, and not Liverpool.

We really do not see Liverpool signing the youngster either in the January transfer window or next summer, unless something dramatic happens.
