Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante days after Liverpool icon Steven Nicol tipped the Reds to move for the French superstar in the summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Los Colchoneros are interested in the prospect of signing Kante in the summer with the 31-year-old’s contract currently set to expire at the end of the season, with clubs now lining up to secure the two-time Premier League champion’s signature.
Kante has hardly featured this season due to injury. However, the former Leicester City star is still regarded by many as one of the best midfielders in world football and a player who could transform an entire club if fully fit and playing in the right system.
As a result, the France international has been tipped by Anfield legend Nicol to join Liverpool, with the former right-back saying: “If I am Madrid, Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern, or any of the so-called big guys. If this guy is on a free, then I am signing him.”

And now, it appears that another big gun in Atletico has joined the race to sign Kante, with Diego Simeone’s side set for a major revamp in the summer given their dire financial situation and the prospect of missing out on a top-four spot in La Liga.
Indeed, with free signings on the agenda, Kante could be an exceptional signing for Atletico if they can beat their top European rivals for the midfielder. And whilst Liverpool haven’t been reported as an interested party, the Reds should still consider a move for the Chelsea star.
Liverpool must rival Atletico to Kante signing

Liverpool’s midfield is in quite the mess, with the Reds’ lack of options and direction in the position leading to one of the worst seasons in the club’s recent memory. And starting the rebuild off with bringing in Kante could be a brilliant move by the Merseyside giants.
Whilst interest from Atletico could be a problem, Liverpool have the pull and Premier League reputation to attract Kante in the summer, who he himself could be keen on signing for the Reds if there is to be a midfield clearout at Anfield in the summer.
