As reported on BBC Sport, Chelsea have been banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows, and that will be a cause for concern for Aston Villa.

Villa signed Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2018, and the striker has been arguably the best player for the Villans so far this season.

The 21-year-old striker has made 27 starts in the Championship for Villa so far this season, scoring 20 goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Dean Smith’s side may not end up in the top six of the Championship this season, but Abraham will still be a success.

The Villans could do with Abraham for the 2019-20 campaign as well, but with Chelsea facing a two-window ban, they may not be willing to – or indeed afford to – let the England international striker leave.

If Abraham does not return to Villa for the 2019-20 campaign, then it is going to be very hard for the Villans to find a suitable replacement.
