Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are reportedly actively trying to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

According to 90min, Chelsea are interested in signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Chelsea have made contact with Lyon to discuss a possible move for Cherki.

The French club are ready to sell the 19-year-old playmaker for £43 million, but the Blues believe that they could be able to secure the services of the teenager for £30 million.

Cherki is keen on a move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window and reunite with his former Lyon teammate Malo Gusto, according to 90min.

Chelsea could be able to sign Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki

We believe that Chelsea could be able to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

If the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners believe that a transfer fee of £30 million could be enough to get Cherki, then they must have a valid reason to do so.

Moreover, Cherki, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, himself wants to move to Chelsea.

That will strengthen the Premier League club’s position during negotiations with Lyon.

The France Under-21 international made 21 starts and 13 substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon last season.

Cherki scored four goals and gave six assists in those matches.

Lyon manager Laurent Blanc described Cherki as a “very talented” player who “has exceptional qualities” in GNFN in April 2023.

The Frenchman is still only 19 and not the finished article yet.

So Chelsea need to be patient with Cherki if they did sign him this summer.

But there is no doubt that Cherki is a gem of a player who could be a massive success for Chelsea in the coming years.
